The process of installing applications is very simple, much like installing the Operating System onto your computer; all of the instructions are on the screen once you have found the application. The first steps are instructions to install Netbeans – an application that can be used to create your own web pages.
step one:
Log onto your new Operating System and insert the Applications disk into your disk drive.
step two:
Navigate the Linux directory folder. It will be the first option to the left of the screen.
step three:
There will be two folders in the Linux directory folder - one for the Netbeans application and the other for the Skype application. Locate the Netbeans application folder.
step four:
Right click on the Netbeans application folder and select 'Properties' in the menu that appears. Then click 'Allow executing file as program'. If this does not work, copy the file to the hard drive and, once loaded, right click on the folder and select 'Properties' in the menu that appears. Again, select 'Allow executing file as program'. Once you have done this, close the tab.
step five:
Search on the desktop for ‘Terminal’ and enter codes found in the program into the terminal in order to make sure that the program has installed correctly.

Our application was not able to run due to a technical error. As we had no internet connection, the application couldn’t load without it. However, this problem did not affect the laptop’s pre-installed programs - such as loading up a word document, for example.
